Hypercharger, does it make a difference?

So I am looking at video of the little flaps on a hypercharger flutter and thinking "hey that's cool". But is that all you get or does the hypercharger actually increase performance. Currently I have a K&N kit. The exhaust has already been upgraded so I think I can afford more airflow. Has anyone put a hypercharger on and noticed a difference?

it definately makes a difference in the upper end breathing. here are the pro's and cons. it looks awesome, and increases performance. cons are it hits your leg big time. you will have to space the floorboard and brake pedal way out. the butterflies are really corny and have no value whatsoever. the intake noise is annoying on heavy throttle. i have the pro charger and it looks awesome. the main complaint i have is the interference with my leg. very annoying.

I have a Hyper Charger Pro on my 2007 1500 classic and I like it a lot. I think that as long as your bike is properly tuned, most of the aftermarket air intakes will have similar performance so I went with the coolest looking one (love the butterflies) but I am no expert and have never tried any of the others. All I can say is that it made a hell of a difference over stock.

As for cons; I agree with 'snarley bill' that the intake noise was a bit surprising but by no means a deal breaker. As for right knee space, it took me about 10 minutes to get used to it and now I don't even think about it when I'm riding. Besides, for the improvement in the overall look that it gives my bike, having my knee pushed a couple of extra inches into the wind is a small price to pay.

Like they say, it improves performance, get it professionaly installed, add a aftermarket fuel powercomander with + and _ settings and and pipes and have it tuned on a dyno by a professional, you will be impressed with the results. Do it yourself and the results may not be as good. your bike should be based line first (stock) on the dyno and then done with the modifacations. As you say they look cool... My Buddy put one on a V Star 650 with aftermarket pipes and gained 14 HP over stock. Its all in the tuning... Good luck. Maurice

I have the Pro-Series installed on my 1500 Classic. When it was installed, the round chrome piece on the left side that looks like the air filter housing on the right side, was removed. I was told that it contained part of the pollution reduction device. Does anyone have any ideas about some type of bling to put in this void?

I filled the void with a Kuryakin V-Shield engine cover. Part# 7177 on the Kuryakin website. It's specifically for use after removing the stock air cleaner cover. It goes on with two bolts and is a pretty sharp piece. I don't know if I can paste links in this forum but here it is anyway.

If it doesn't work just go to the Kuryakin website.

2009 vn2000

Just picked up a vn2000 classic LT. Dealer already had a K&N air filter setup on the bike in the showroom....trying to upsell people into getting them. It's installed correctly, and I have all the paper -work that goes with it, but he doesn't know if the bike has been re-programed to run properly with this setup. They just bought out the dealership, stock and all, from another owner. What do I do now ????? Just drove the bike out of the showroom and into my garage,,,,,97 miles on it. intake sounds good and she runs well, but I have not gotten into the throttle much due to the break in period. Idle seems ok, but I have no way of knowing if it's running right. I could really use some advice.

I put the Pro-Series Hypercharger on my 2005 Vulcan Classic at the same time that I added DG Hard-Krome 3" Big Straights and a Cobra Fi2000 fuel processor. The performance difference from stock is impressive, especially at the top-end. I love the sound when I get into the throttle! The Hypercharger and Hard-Krome pipes pair very well with Vulcan 1500 engine; the sound is very sweet (and deep). I cannot say if the Hypercharger alone will give as good of results, but I definitely agree with fobears that it is difficult to quit smiling when you are riding with the Hypercharger set-up.

Also, the Hypercharger does get in the way of your knee, but after riding my bike with it, there was no way that I was going to remove it. I moved the right floorboard out about 1.5 inches and added a longer brake pedal.
