I have something similar on my bike...and my husbands bike.
Definitely an eyecatcher and i think worth it. Easy to install for my vulcan. Wires under seat obviously for the rear lights go into the rear fender....used VOM to identify the brake light wire... cut/ crimp ....done.

tried to locate it under the seat on my vulcan...on top of battery but there is not a lot of clearance there....so moved it to the left side compartment.

I have read somewhere that it may not be legal in some states? California maybe specifies the blink rate...?

 

I have the Back Off. Remove old bulb and plug in the new. Illegal in many states - another stupid law and I don't care - I'll go to court if I get a ticket. I've noticed that people tend to move another lane when mine starts flashing.

 

I was in Arkansas recently, and I saw a couple bikes with this type of thing on the headlight. Now, I'm all about being seen, but that was downright annoying!

 

I have the Kisan Tailblazer in my Honda I put in years ago. It is a simple plug in bulb, no wires to deal with. The light works by rapidly flashing the taillights the instant you apply the brakes. The flash rate then slows down to a steady ON - this cycle lasts about 4 seconds.

I have the both the Kisan Tailblazer and pathBlazer on the 900. The tailblazer requires red tail light lenses if you use the running light option.

I like the mods and don't mind annoying anyone if it means they see me coming.

 

I have a Signal Minder (automatic signal canceller) which flashes both signal lights when I brake (if a signel is not activated), but not the brakes lights them selves. It basically has the same effect. I found some red rear signal lenses for about $9 on line (they're actually for a Yammerma, but work quite well). I stopped using the modulator because it was messing with my management of the blinkers...long story...
I also have a third brake light light bar on my license palte frame.

 

I bought my bike used about a week ago now. Got home and found the Back Off module installed under the seat. I guess if you're really looking for every safety advantage and ride a lot in traffic it's one more tool.

The headlight modulator is legal in all states. When I installed it on a previous motorcycle I also received in the box a copy of the federal law that says so. I wasn't aware of the brake light flasher being illegal, I have one of the Tailblazer bulbs on my 900. They are both very good for attracting attention and these days that's a must.

I have the brake flasher above installed on my vn2000 and also the headlight flasher. Info in link says the ibf4 is ok in Cali. They are both very easy to install.
