hey yall

i was looking at these tires for the v900bn....but it says 'tubeless' on the detail section of this tire on the
website, so does that mean you cant use it b/c i have tubed tires?

also, what do yall prefer for a good tire/brand? thanks!

I have Commander IIs and they feel pretty solid to me. I was also wondering if anyone has any experience with Commander III tires? If so, did you chose the Cruiser version or the Touring version? I vaguely seem to remember only the Cruiser version is available in the VN900B (or D) tire sizes.

Running Shinko tour masters with tubes no problem - you can run tubes in tubeless tires.
will not find a lot of tires specifying tubes needed.

Liondog, I have run Shinko 777's on my 900 Custom for a few years now. I can't comment on the cost of the front tire since the Custom has a completely different size, but it's on the second Shinko on the rear. The first tire (2016) cost me $154 plus mount at my local Kawi shop but you can get them cheaper on line. After roughly 7500 miles (I don't know the exact number as the bike is now in my son's garage), the replacement ran $149 at a different Kawi shop. You won't get the mileage out these you would expect from a Metzler 888 or a Commander II, but the tires handled well and for that price I can't complain about the mileage.

I use Dennis Kirk for tires - $90 for rear tire.

I removed the wheel from bike and had a local shop install new tire and tube - paid $70 for new tube / tire install rear tire.

I'm running Cruiser version Commander III's. I upgraded from something Dunlop I think. They were marked 2014 and were on the bike when I bought it 2 years ago and I've put about 3000 miles on them. I figured I should not be running 6 year old tires on the back roads I ride even though the treads looked great so I bit the bullet and went big.

This is my first bike so my first set of new tires which replaced old tires so my analysis may not be worth much. That said.....

I think these tires are awesome. I have noticeably better traction on turns and even on the banked highway curves. I can't really say these tires "eat up ruts" or anything along those lines. For comfort, I'm not really sure I can tell any difference but the confidence gained from the felt traction increase is amazing.

One of their selling points (marketing hype maybe) is the looks of the tire. I think they nailed it on this. The Commander III really look cool to me, marketing hype or not.

Final out the door price Cruiser version....... $685! .........Yikes!
tubes - $16.95 and $23.95
Tires - $194 and $264
Labor - $125
rest was $10 misc supplies and tax

I ordered Shinko 777 tires for my Shadow Spirit 750, which had spoked wheels and tubes, without realizing the issue.when I received the tires, went to verify sizes and noticed the "tubeless" lettering on the sidewall.
After researching, find that tires with ribs on the inside should not hold tubes, negate the ribs may chaff the tube.
I contacted Shinko and the replied that it should not be an issue.
Many folks on the Shadow.ner forum concurred and reported no issues with the combination.
I had the tires mounted with new tubes and have put about 300 miles on it between back roads and highway, with no issue.
They are great tires. I noticed the added grip right away, over the stock Dunlaps, I think, that had plenty tread at only 5000 miles, but were 7 years old.

thanks for feedback, think i am gng with them!,

so ALL shinko 777 'state' on the side TUBELESS on the sidewall? y would they say that if its kosher to use tubes too?strange.
and i c your happy with them.
I can't answer that.
I had the same concern, but the company and forum members with experience said "no worries".
The Honda dealership didn't balk, either.
