I am new to the forum so hello to everyone. Names Daniel i live in Pa just south of Pittsburgh. Have a problem and need help. a week ago i buy my first cruiser 98 Vulcan. extremely happy with the bike. just got my new saddle bags today and my tank bib as well as my rain gear. was looking forward to possibly riding to work tomorrow. now the bad, i pull up in front of the house today after work and to my wonderful day i find that my bike was on it's side. We had winds up to 92 mph today. as i jump out of my truck and put my new baby back on her side, i find that the right rear turn signal is broke. still blinks just the housing is all cracked to heck. simple fix tape it up buy new signals this weekend. the bigger problem is that my throttle control's didn't fair so well. the bike still had stock grips on it. the chrome cap on the end of the grip broke off. in it's breaking it broke the threaded part of the throttle tube that the cap screwed onto. my question lies here, the tube it's self faired ok threaded part on end broke off maybe the last 1/4 of the tube under the grip is broken, the rest of the tube is fine. can i put on new grips with end caps and be fine or is the whole tube in need of replacement. i ask cause budget is limited at the moment, and the throttle assembly is like 45 bucks. new grips can be had for about 20 bucks. any help would be greatly appreciated

hmm, never really heard of that happening, lol
I would think though, that if only about 1/4" is missing, that it might be ok. all you can really do is try it and find out. I would think as long as the grip your installing is fairly stout, it should be ok.

I was gonna suggest the Kury grips, but when he said he was on a tight budget I passed. $60 for grips seems to be more than he's wanting to spend right now.

I agree with ebay.
Now I've been advised to stay away from the over seas grips. Some guys had issues with instalation.

When you say the "tube", are you referring to the plastic tube inside the grip or the handlebar itself? I ask because when I put on my ISOs I didn't see anything that was threaded. If it's the plastic tube, I don't see why you couldn't do just about any grip you wanted (unless I'm missing something here).

My bigger question: The bike was on its kickstand and blew over onto its right side? Man, that is some kinda wind!
