The Gunfighter definitely isn't for two up riding. Your wife would have to hold on for dear life and it definitely wouldn't be safe. With the Solo Seat it could be done, however, I have seen the Kawasaki Passenger pad along with a Corbin and it really looks squished. I thought I was going to go with a Corbin but in the meantime have decided not to. They are not all that comfortable. Actually pretty hard. It is cheaper and probably more comfortable to get your stock seat reapolstered. Do you have the extended reach set up or the standard midreach set up? I heard that the Midreach seat is easier to modify since the extended reach seat is pretty flat and has already some type of gel insert. If you have your heart set on a Corbin and you want your wife to come along (even only 2% of the time) I would go with the Solo Seat. There were a couple of people selling theirs for around 300 bucks. I am sure they are sold by now but check E-Bay or the Classifieds in the forums and they do pop up from time to time.
Good choice btw on your bike :grin2:

I have a Corbin solo seat and love it! I ride exclusively solo. The seat is much firmer than the stock but that is a good thing. A soft seat is much more comfortable in the short term but as the soft foam compresses it loses its shape and ability to provide a comfortable ride. A firmer seat is great for the long haul and long distance riding. It will hold its shape and contours for much longer. The Corbin seat is slightly larger and firmer than the stock by design to allow you to shift seating positions from time to time which is an asset when riding long distances. Firmer yes! Less comfortable? No in my opinion just different.

What Sith said. I have the solo seat with backrest. No regrets. Also adjust the shocks from the factor 2 to 4.

Thanks for the quick replies. I currently have the mid-reach as the dealer wanted me to pay for the extended reach ($240 + $60 install for undoing 1 bolt). Normal dealer games. Called Kawasaki and the extended reach will be here in 2-4 days for free. Typical story from reading this forum. I broke the bike in yesterday with a 37 mile ride and my butt was numb and my tailbone ached for about 1 hour after, so I'm hoping the extended reach seat gives me immediate relief while I wait for a Corbin to arrive in 4 weeks. My issue is that my butt is wider than the creases on the mid-reach seat, so the moment I sit down I can feel a slight pinch on both sides of my tailbone.

I had a solo Gunfighter on my '77 KZ1000A. It was pretty awesome. Backrests don't really affect one's ability to swing a leg over, you just need to adapt your technique a bit (bend at the knee instead of sticking mlegy out really far, frex).

I guess I'm the odd guy out... I had a Corbin on an earlier bike... FZ6... hated it -- felt like sitting on a plank.

You either love or hate the Corbin... I don't think there's middle ground. The stock seat sucks (all stockers do). I had mine reupholstered according my directions, at Mean City Streets... cured all ills... They put a channel down the middle and added two layers of sculpted memory foam. Firmed it up, added support in the back, and relieved all the pressure points. I'm only 190, so they warned me off of the gel layer. However, over 225lbs, they recommend it (in addition to the added memory foam).

Corbin lets you pick all the variables, which is nice... (but you *do* pay for it)...

I did a Corbin Gunfighter on my A model Vulcan and then took it Daylong Seats in Northern California. Best seat I have ever put my arse in ever. I had them add a backrest to the project and its great. Have them do their magic to your seat and you wont forget them. They custom fit your seat to you and nothing can touch that.

Can you hear me now :grin2: Weather has been horrible here as well. Today is the first fairly decent day but there is still ice on my driveway from the ice storm a couple of days ago. Took me an hour to get the ice off my car. (Bike and second car are in the garage, the car I drive is in the driveway). I am not going to try and get the bike out while there are still ice covered sidestreets. And if I make it to the main road there is a ton of salt and a million pot holes. So while it is suppose to be close to 40 today I am not going to take a chance just yet. Tomorrow even warmer up to 48 but rain and then by Friday back to snow. Last year we had 6 days in the row of 60 degree weather and this year it's just the opposite. Hey, post a picture of your bike with the Corbin on it. I am curious how it looks! :wink2:

Does anyone have the Corbin solo with the Kawasaki passenger seat? Does it work without modifications? How does it look? Picture?
TIA
Corbin Solo works well with the Extended Passenger Seat but not very well with the standard Passenger Seat. I do have an extended Passenger Seat for 85 plus shipping. Shouldn't be more than 20 bucks for shipping in the 48 Continental US States.
