My X-Element fabric type jacket is showing dirt and stains on the sleeves after about 2 years of use. I tried cleaning it with cold, soapy water and a toothbrush, but all of the stains did not come out. How do you forum members clean yours? :)

I ride in the rain .... I can not say that I have cleaned any motorcycle touring jacket or pants .... the bugs just wash off in time.

old,

I've used a product called "Go-Jo". It's a white cream that comes in a can and is recommended for laundry and hand and other things... I smear a little on all the stains and use a toothbrush to scrub it in a little and then let it set for a day or so and then wash as directed by the jacket maker.

My mesh jacket got kind of covered in mud last year. I took out the padding, then rubbed some pre-wash stuff into the muddy part, let it soak in, and ran it through the washing machine. Let it air dry on a hangar outside on a sunny day. No more mud.

I did pretty much the same thing with some mesh pants. Pulled the liners out and separated them all, then ran them through the washing machine. Three hangers on the back porch when it was nice and sunny and no more swamp ass smell.

+1 I also put a little shout it out. In the washer with cold water the air dry.

I wash me textile jacket in the washer on delicate cycle. Haven't had to use one of those stain removal sticks on it yet, but that should help.

One of my main questions was if the jacket could be machine washed. Sounds as though it can. (Of course, I have lost the instructions that came with it!) :D Thanks for the replies so far........Old :)

seeing I am the only one who never washes their stuff ... its probably the reason why I ride alone ... LOL My 10 year old Joe Rocket 2.o touring jacket has been thru some good bug blasts, but the rain seems to keep it clean, same with my touring pants, mesh jackets etc .... I dunno, I rarely sweat ... must be something about being born in the middle of Australia.

Should be ok. You can also try using Woolite if you're concerned about the color fading. As mentioned, removed armor too.
