Another stupid tire question

This maybe a noob question but I noticed that the the Michelin Commander II only comes in a rear tire version in the size for my 01 Nomad. 150/80/16. Has anyone used this on the front? I keep reading about good things about the Commander but not sure about using a rear on the front. If not I will go with the Metzler, the Stone that is on it now has to GO!

I just did a quick check. Hmm. Your bike uses the same size tire on front and rear.

Personally if you can't find Mich. Commander II in your size for the front I would probably go with a brand that could provide the proper size. Front and rear tires are designed differently. Physically it would work but not sure about safety / performance.

That's just me, though.

Michelin Commander II is my choice when I get tires, Metzeler 880 was my second choice.

It is not uncommon to mount a rear tire in opposite rotation on the front. I believe a number of riders here have done exactly that.

Much like Darksiding questions, on which I have NO OPINION (I am not opening a can of worms today), I'm only saying it has been done and those that have done it seem to be doing just fine.

I do not have the same brand tire but I have been running a rear tire on front for almost 2 years with no problem.. wanted wider on front than what was available... run it reverse direction .. do feel rough roads in handle bars a lil more do to the higher load rating and more ply.. just my dbl penny worth..

I've run several rear tires on the front.

Yes you do need to reverse the rotation and yes you will get more mileage out of it.

I am now running a 130/90/16 on the front of my Nomad and love it. The steering feels lighter and the bike is more nimble.

Thanks everyone for the advice. It's good to know that you can put a rear on the front with no major issues on this bike. With my large frame :) the extra weight capacity may not be such a bad idea. MT I will have to look into what you did size wise as while I like the comfort of the wider front tire you do have to muscle it around at lower speeds and quicker steering wouldn't be such a bad thing either.
