I have a 2002 Vulcan 800 classic. During my Laughlin trip this year, I noticed after a run my Headlight was not on. Bike starts fine and runs fine, in fact rode it all the way home. Checked the fuses, and bulb. All is good. Got a meter out and verified no voltage to the headlight connection. Rear taillights work, license plate lights work. Gauges, and lights work. Did notice my high beam indicator on my gauges will not light up when I turn the switch to high. I replaced the regulator/rectifier but did not fix. Anyone have any ideas??? would appreciate the help.

When you push the starter button power goes to the starter relay. Power then goes to the starter and the headlight relay. Not sure if the headlight comes on then or once you release the starter button, but the starter button does have to be pushed before the headlight gets power. You can tap the starter button without starting the bike and the headlight should come on.

Well, at least on my 15, the headlamp stayed off until the bike started, however, if you bump the starter switch (no engine start) the headlight came on. So, this tells me that when the starter button is released (on initial try) (whether the bike is running or not) the headlight comes on and stays on until the ignition is turned off. %P
