What a surprise, I Found something on my bike today.

OK to start of with I lost my key (only had one). I was looking at the paper work the guy gave me I bought the bike from to see if he wrote the key code down. As I was looking I found a receipt were the original owner had bought a Cobra F12000. (im the third owner) The guy I bought it of off said it didnt have one on it. I had ask because it has a hypercharger and hard krome exhaust.
Anyway when I got the bike home I looked in the places I thought it would be in and didnt see one. After I found the receipt I started looking again and found it under the left side cover.

Thought I would share some of my luck. Since I was going to order one, Guess I put the money to something else.

O, I found my hey and Im going to get me a copy of my key made!!

I thought that the code was inside the gas cap? Now I have to look.

When I bought my bike last week at the dealer (used) after the papers were signed and the deal was done I found the same one on my bike during the post sale walkthrough. He showed me how to pop the seat and there it was. They said they didn't know what it was.

The code is actually on a little metal tag that comes with the key when you buy the bike new. I wrote mine down in my Owner's Manual because I'm an anal-retentive lunatic. I don't actually know about the gas cap, but right now I'm trying not to go outside to check. Because I'll look like a nut standing out there with a flashlight staring at the underside of my gas cap.

i looked at mine the only thing i saw was kt14 but looked for examples and that doesnt look like the numbers

I would advise you to get a second key made and hide it on your bike. You can't ever tell when you maybe away from home and lose your key. A spare key at home and you 100 miles or more from there ain't worth a continental damn as my dear old Dad, God rest his soul would say!!

the code is what you need to order a key from the dealer so write it somewhere in case you ever lose the key

Just an FYI about keeping the spare key on your person... My dad and I were participating in a 150 mile 2-day Charity event. There were about 25 motorcyclists providing an "escort" to the 3500 bicyclists for this charity (MS150). My dad drove down from kansas (450 miles away) when we discovered his stator went out, and was no longer charging the battery. After having to push start the bike twice, and get a jump, we decided to leave and head to the house which was only 65 miles away. Wouldn't you know it.... he was low on push-o-line.... So we get to the gas station, and he remembered his spare key was on his normal key ring. So I pump the gas while he's holding the throttle up to keep the bike from dying (a Suzuki 1500 LC is not fun to push start). So the spare key either on the bike, or on yourself is the ONLY way to go...

It takes about three or more weeks to get the keys ordered from the dealer. I don't know if a locksmith would even have the blank to make the key. The same key ( I know, I'm preaching to the choir ) operates the ignition, the gas cap, the fork lock, and the seat release. If you don't have the key code you are looking at about $600 to replace all these locks and get new keys. The replacement keys ordered from the key code are about $30 apiece. Word to the wise from the experienced; don't lose your keys. I lost BOTH of mine within two weeks. Haven't figured that one out yet. Go figure.

my local dealer stocks blanks for 12 bucks then you can get a local place to cut it not sure why the dealer dont cut them but they dont

I lost my key, have been runnin on my spare for a year now. The other day, I was lookin for something, looked in the couch cushion, and wa-la!! found the key!! Yay me!!
