Anyone have any recommendations for a windshield for a Vulcan S? I'm a relatively short rider looking for the right balance between wind protection and preserving the good looks of the bike. :)
I highly recommend just getting the Kawasaki genuine windshield. I tried Madstad and the buffeting was so bad, I spent 3 months adjusting the shield by lowering, angling, raising, and at one point the latches failed while riding and the shield snapped onto the speedometer. After that the cost to return and restock the shield costed $120. By that point I could have just spent the $300 for the shield and the correct brackets from Kawasaki. I can say the Kawasaki shield is really sturdy, causes no buffeting, and was supremely easy to install. Hope that helps! Good luck!

I found the high Kawasaki windshield + bracket for 140,- on our local craigslist (Dutch: Marktplaats) in mint condition. A steal compared to dealer price.

The difference is big but sadly not all in the good way.
On low speeds I feel no wind at all but on highway speed it starts buffeting on my helmet. Very annoying and way worse than the normal clean wind you get with the cafe racer windshield.

The shield is angled a bit odd too, it looks to steep compared to the front suspension.
When I have the time I'll try it with only the bottom two bolts attached so I can vary the angle during the ride.
The metal has room for a few extra holes so I might go that way. I'll keep you posted but it might take a while.

In terms of looks. I prefer the cafe racer shield but the high windshield isn't to bad. Not that big of a deal and I'll happily switch during the colder (rainy) weather if I can solve the buffeting.

For reference I'm 1,70M (5,6ft).

Since I started this thread (and thanks for the many suggestions!), I went with the Puig windshield. Pix attached. Installation was very easy and I think it looks good on the bike. Just took it for a freeway ride and I'm very satisfied. There's a little bit (not a lot) of buffeting at my collarbones and right under my chin, but honestly I don't think it's any more than without the windshield, and probably less. So, a satisfied customer.... :)

I ordered a Puig naked touring shield on the recommendations of many folks on the forum here. I read some reviews online from people saying it wasn't high enough, but I'm only 5'8", so I'm hoping it'll keep the wind off my chest & helmet.

Update 6/29: The Puig naked touring shield was tiny in real life. I'm only 5'8" but I would say the Puig was 4-5 inches too short anyway. It only protected my chest & put all of the wind right in my face, LOL. I'm still looking for a taller shield.

@kshirschmd , love the color of your Vulcan S! Would've been my 1st choice, had I had a choice, LOL. I purchased what I was told was one of the last 2023's in my area of NH. Picking it up next week, and I have a pile of accessories to install after I get it home!

I have PUIG New Generation windshield. After installing it, it seems to me that an additional noise appeared in the helmet. Do you know how I can remove windshiemr from the 4 "screws" that attach to the brackets connected to the handlebar?

That shield on my bike made my helmet sound like a carcophony of whistles, whacks & smacks.

If your windshield came fully assembled then there are simply plastic covers over the screws that attach the windshield to the bracket at the bike. A flat head screwdriver and a rag to help not mar the plastic will do the trick. Once the caps are removed it is a straight forward process for removal.
