Have you noticed any difference in power? I was looking at another bike as I want more power but for some reason insurance is outrageous even though I am 26 yrs old, married and clean record. Checked a couple places still expensive for this other bike. So instead I am thinking of doing a couple mods to my Vulcan S, I would like alittle more power, just wondering if anything out there will give me a noticeable gain. I really hope kawasaki does another bike like this but with the ninja 1000 engine.

I'm curious as to why synthetic oil would increase performance... Also, did you have to replace the oil seals?

Great improvement in both performance, rideability & fuel economy

Also undertook suspension work - to better suit my purpose - long distance touring

Plus 3.0 mm hole drilled in fuel tank filler to increase usable fuel tank capacity - now 300klm distance before Reserve

K9, did you do all the mods at once, if not did you keep records of each change and how performance mileage and vibration were effected by each one?

Synthetic oil is generally know to cause less friction than Dino oil...result better MPG and it sticks to metal a bit better which causes less wear during start up. Nearly all engine wear is during startup.

I can honestly attest to the fact that Synthetic Oil, Motul V300 10/40, made such a difference I was greatly surprised. The bike seemed to start easier, just touch the start button and it fires up. Saw a definite improvement in acceleration, just seem to rap up faster with less throttle needed. And shifting was greatly improved and seemed to make it easier.

My stepson even noticed the improvement when he rode my Vulcan S. So when his new Vulcan 900 Classic came due for it's first oil change he also went with the Motul and said it did make shifting a lot smoother for him.

Motul is expensive but as far as I am concerned it is worth every penny.....I buy it off Amazon for the best price.

I am thinking you "Mean" Oil Filter. After a lot of research I went with HIFLO as they seemed to be the best performing and they make K&N and many Factory Oil Filters....it is a nice heavy feeling filter with what looks like metal internal parts with a good Rubber check valve system. A little pricey but I also love having the 17mm nut on the end to take it off with a simple wrench.

Being an Engineer & used to working with engines of all sizes etc

Yes I did the changes one by one

Many of the mods I'd used on my other bikes

Step 1:- Arrow Rebel exhaust - definite improvement - plus better sound

Steo 2:- Magna Dyna Boost - to improve fuelling - significantly better acceleration

Step 3:- Pulstar spark plugs - vibration gone, fuel consumption improved

Step 4:- Synthetic oil 10/40 (Castrol, although next oil change will be Nulon) - quicker starting, reduced clutch drag etc

Step 5:- Stainless Steel oil filter - improves oil filtration, oil flow, reduces oil pump load

Other mods, Front forks, fitted eliminators, thinnest fork oil possible - forks 8mm in top clamp - speeds up steering. R&G fender eliminator - Rear shock to be replaced by longer Matrice unit to increase rear wheel suspension travel - Scottoiler to lubricate chain - modified seat to make more comfortable - Greased swinging arm linkage bearings - Greased & adjusted headstock bearings
