Rear Turn Signal

Just bought my first bike - 2006 Vulcan. Nice bike.

Question on rear tail lights. My rear turn signal flashes while turning but is off while engine is running. Should rear turn signal also illuminate with engine running and no turn signal?

Seems would be safer at night with extra yellow light in rear beyond red taillight/brakelight. Appreciate your feedback.

Your rear turn signals only illuminate when flashing. Amber running lights are illegal on the rear in most states. Confuses people behind you at night.
The front should be lit at all times and flash bright..dim..bright..dim but remain lit when not turning.

Ride safe and come here if you have any more concerns.;)

If I understood you correctly you are referring to rear turn signals doubling up as running lights. It is not the case . It is by design that only the front turn signals stay on all the time. Back once serve as blinkers only.

This may not be true though for other brands of motorcycles, but in most cases this is the way it is.
