Howdy!
Just wrapped up installing the HealTech gear indicator on my 900 custom. Part (#GPDT-K04-WH) with shipping was $184.99 and it arrived FedEx in just a couple of days.
Challenges: first one was finding the diagnostic port to plug it into. Turns out it was tucked down behind the right side cover, and it had a cap on it. Second challenge was removing the dang cap. Figured out that prying up with a small bit flat head screwdriver on the connector latch did the trick.
I routed the gear indicator wire under the right side of the fuel tank and mounted the display unit to the top of the triple tree. Used about five black zip ties.
After installing, I took the bike only a little test drive. The gear indicator worked fine immediately but I decided to go through the learning mode process so that the unit could learn that the bike only has five gears. So now when I turn the bike on the indicator only cycles through numbers 1-5 at startup instead of displaying numbers 1-6 as it does for the default mode out of the box.
My number display is bright white, I’m very happy with this part and the installation went smoothly once I got the diagnostic port’s cap off.
