Hi all. Jeff here from Sk, Canada. I have ridden for the last 15 or so years on various sport bikes and a few older vintage bikes. I sold everything off last year after deciding I was sick of rising insurance costs and distracted drivers (not to mention horrible roads where I live)

BUT, then spring came around and I got the itch to ride. I was perusing through the local classifieds and I found an '09 Custom se in REALLY good shape. The price was spot on so I loaded it up on my trailer and brought it home. First order of business was fresh oil and some new rubber.

The bike itself has 13,000km on it, and the previous owner added some exhaust to the bike. This is my issue. I cannot find out what kind of exhaust it is. It's too loud for my tastes. I have never been a highway rider, so I havent ridden with plugs too often, but I have a headache after cruising around lightly. The previous owner did no fuel system mods after adding the exhaust either, so it has the usual pops and such. The bike is enjoyable to ride, but for my tastes I would prefer a quieter exhaust.

Can anyone recommend an option here. Im not sure if these are cobra speedster exhausts?!? they look very similar but I cannot tell. I would LOVE to remove the baffles and replace with quieter ones, or preferably find an OEM exhaust and trade mine or sell mine. Is there perhaps anything I can clip on that could help without getting too crazy. I have attached some photos here. I am not 100% sure how to remove these baffles either.

Thanks for any help!

No idea on the pipes, sorry. Sharp looking ride though, welcome to the forums. I'm sure someone will come along that has seen those pipes before.

Welcome aboard Jeff. Transplanted SK boy here. Nice looking bike. Those pipes look similar to the Vance and Hines pipes but I believe they have some chrome on the end so not sure if its those or not. Sorry, not much help. Enjoy the bike and Go Riders!!!

@gemini8026

Honestly, like others say, it could be Cobra or Vance & Hines as they are the most common ones that people prefer, but they could also be any type of manufacture's to be perfectly honest, you could always just call up the person you bought it from and ask them.

I dont really know any other way how you would go by changing the baffles inside that particular exhaust, you probably could but will result on a lot of damage onto the pipes. Its probably worth while buying a new exhaust system to your likings or you might have better luck swapping them to someone with a factory/stock exhaust system.

But, just wanted to tell you that once you got that riding DNA its very hard to stop/quit riding forever!!!

Cheers,
