This is strange. On my '10 Voyager, it had NO washers on the nuts when doing my first oil change. Now I'm changing the oil on a '11 Nomad and it has NO washer on the rear plug, and there is one on the front nut. First oil change on the bike.
Did Kawasaki forget something, or were they running low on washers that day ?
Can other Nomad owners tell me if they had zero, one, or two washers.

And no, it didn't fall into the oil drain pan, and it's not stuck to the drain hole either. It never existed. Are any other new 1700's having this issue ?
Weird, ain't it ?

Hmm... So I'm not the only one.
I put a washer on each, as you did.
Having a washer on one, and not the other didn't make sense, unless they were low on washers that day, or just plain forgot.
Thanks for the replies, guys.

After about five oil changes I became aware that there were no washers on either bolt after reading a blog somewhere about washers. I dug out the bottom of my oil drain pan and found one, but I'm not even sure it came from the Nomad as I used to change the oil on my pickup before I got lazy. About three weeks ago I bought two washers from the dealer for $1.99 each and I will put them on at the next oil change. There's none on my bike now but it hasn't leaked a single drop so I'm not sure if it ever had any? :p

92065-097 $0.29 Some dealers are something else aren't they.

My bike had all it's drain plug gaskets. I use them for at least two changes before using a new one.

Has anyone had trouble getting the washer off the drainbolt? I had a bitch of a time with mine. The washer was flattened (as it should be), and would not slide off over the threads, nor would it turn off through the threads. I was worried about stripping the bolt by continuing to mess with it, so I just re-used the washer. I think I will have to cut off the washer at the next oil change.

Yep,
If it's over tightened, or used too many times, it will be stuck on there forever.
I've had this happen to me on the Meanstreak twice. Rather than forcing off the washer and damaging the threads, I just bought new nuts. A lot better than screwing damaged threads into the drain hole.
