Glad to finaly be arpund like minded people like bodied no. I am a right above knee amputee. I will be riding across country from Washington DC to San Diego CA next year. I will ne on a VN900D LT single person no 2 up. I am going to be doing this on the least amount of money as possible. I dont want to just show because I different doesnt mean I cant live life but also you dont need to be rich to make sh** happen. I will also be trying to raise fund for suicide prevention. I will be camping on the ground with a $20 a day budget and seekout at least everyother day a place to volunteer. I will also interviewing as many people as possible on how they fight depression and compiling their stories into a book afterwards. So with this in mind. Packing very minimal what would you all recommend that I make sure I have and what mods should I consider on my bike? Than you.

Very cool!

I for one would be very interested to hear more about it. Looks like you already have highway pegs, so only other suggestion I would make is a backrest. I did a long journey last year, and one of my work colleagues highly recommended it.

I think it definitely eases your back, and would recommend based on my experience.

very cool man!

Forget about mods to the bike. It will be fine. Bring tools that can get the wheels off and also tire irons with repair kits and an air pump. Also a list of every Kawasaki dealer on the route there.
My brother and I rode all the way from Maine to Alaska back in 1983.
He had a 1981 GPZ1100 and I had a 1983 GPZ1100.
Very long days in the saddle and lots of gas stops. You are going to spend a lot on fuel and that $20 isn't going to go very far.
We both had fart sacks and tank bags to carry all our crap.
There were no cell phones back then but I carried a pair of 2 meter HT's for emergency communication.
I've been a HAM since age 13.
And remember to pay attention like everyone else on the road is blind.
Have fun.
