How well does the cafe windshield keep the wind off of you? I'd like to add a windshield to cut some of the noise and wind force out but am not sure how well it works with its low profile. Does anyone have any input?
Thanks

I have only a few miles on mine, but here are first impressions.

At first, slow, it was like it wasn't there. For city driving is pretty much the same. But then I got it over 45 towards 50 and it was a different experience. The sound from the engine fades away and you seem to be in this weird "zone". For my height (5'9") it felt good and comfy, removing a lot of the wind from my chest, and even sending most over my head.

And it keeps the looks I like on the bike. Everybody that has seen it says it looks very cool on the bike. So I am 100% satisfied (for what I wanted, and the price).

If you are looking for a shield that takes away wind noise, this is not the one.

It relieves the pressure on your chest and makes riding much more comfortable. I still get a lot of wind on my helmet and it starts at nose level. I am 5'11' and wear a 3/4 helmet with a face shield if that helps.

I really like this shield. It does not take away from the looks of the bike and cuts through the wind with no trouble. On a recent windy 1,500 mile trip, my HD friends with fairings were getting blown around. I was not.

For some reason you cannot hear the engine at higher speeds. Without that engine noise you realize that the 900 is very highway capable without a Scootworks front pulley. The perception that the engine is over revving at 70 is due to the engine noise. I can cruise at 70 all day long (true GPS).

Pros:
Cuts down engine noise
Improved mileage slightly
Looks good
Relieves chest pressure

Cons:
Not a quick release type shield
Same or increased wind on the helmet
Will not keep you dry in the rain
Still get bugs on the face shield

I love it here.... I just cant wait for the weather to catch up!!!

I hope to make it out your way this year too. I have been to San Francisco a few times for work. (I work for Apple) Also been to san Jose, and Monterey, but that is the furthest south so far. Sonoma, and the bay are amazing, but I hear San Diego and LA are like a whole different world!

Good luck finding your windshield. I am looking hard myself. I am thinking about the "Flyscreen" myself. I don't want to draw away from the custom look!

Later,
Tony
