I had my altmax installed on the 13 of march, local shop, not a dealer, agreed to do it for me, much to there chagrin, 7 hours of warming up and 110 pounds of pressure, yes we were all in sphincter clench mode, and it finally popped. Talked to MrClean a member of another site who is IMHO “THE OVERLORD OF ALL DARKSIDE KNOWLEDEGE” after, doooh should have done that first, and he relayed this information for next time.

He rides an VN900 and is considered THE expert on the other site.

“Did you clean and polish the rim before you took it in? I didn’t the first time and it was a BEAR. But the second time I had that thing so shiny they told me it seated at just over 40 pounds. Made them wonder what all the hubbub was about.

Please go to the Delphi Darkside forum register and follow the links to log your tire and information in. It helps all those that come after us that are getting an earfull from well intentioned but clueless folks.

Oh, and in case nobody has told you yet.

“You’ll Bust your Ass!”

It’s my favorite quote.

Clean”

Thanks for the heads-up on the cleaning and polishing. I've noticed on other sites a large variation in seating pressures... everything from 30 to 125psi.

I've also read that PAM spray works much better than soap and water.

Heck, nobody invited me and i showed up anyway!

I don't think there's any rules about who can join the forum, just as long as what they post isn't obscene or something.

Do not believe that would happen, never meet anyone with his paitence and grace after the beating he gets on the other site.

Lots of people seem to have Opinions about the practice without trying it. I would not want to do that on my invite.

I have been savagely attacked "over there" based on a post about my "opinions" of my performance increase and probably will not post there again.

But i have found (most of) the members of this site to be honest and forthwith

If it's the same MrClean from the BTK forums, he's more than welcome here, class act.

FWIW, after seeing the horrid tread life on my stock tires, and eyeing the cost of replacements, I'm seriously considering the darkside here at the end of April myself. LOL I may run the poor guy off with all of my questions! Of course, I know his normal haunt too, so he can't escape there...

I know i'm gonna open a can of worms here, but...

I've really looked into this, done a fair amount of research. I just don't see any logical reason why anyone with a cruiser wouldn't run a car tire in the rear. Sportbikes, ok, i see an argument; but with cruisers, it just makes sense.

So I take it some of you if not all agree we could use MrClean's considerable expertise in this area, I personally believe he could impart a large amount of knowledge to those who truly want to learn and are not afraid to experience new ideas. As I said before i consider the members of this forum (most, anyway, including myself at times, when the bottle gets opened ), to be considerate of the opinions and knowledge of others. Yes the very same MrClean some of you have mentioned, he is a class act and I do think he will be happy to join us. As some of you have mentioned you have experience on the "other site" and I do hope you understand my reasons for choosing to abandon the pit of vitriol that resides there.

I will extend the invitation with a warning that he may be deluged with request and hope he accepts.

Ride safe.

Eeaash, I'm just going to pretend this bit of thread doesn't exist.

Move along, nothing to see here folks.

Anyone know where I can get my own T-shirts made?

Thanks for the welcome. As for my Darksiding prowess, I've only taken the knowledge from other folks, used it and then refused to stop talking about it when asked. Ok, sometimes when not asked. But just like Dynabeads, you rarely heard of them a couple years ago and now they're an accepted norm. Don't know if Darksiding will ever reach the same level of acceptance. Then again, I still get folks who will swear to me that those little beads can't balance a tire.

Anyways, about those T shirts......
