Hey all. I removed the control switch covers and cleaned off the pitting. Now they look great but the starter won’t turn when I press the start button. I did lightly sand the contacts because they look tarnished. Did I screw something up by sanding? How do those contacts work since the button isn’t wired? Thanks in advance

The covers for the controls, start button and master on/off switch.

Update: I figured it out. There’s a plastic nub that keeps the master switch in place. I must’ve broke it off when putting it back together. I epoxied an end of a wire tie to fill the space and all is well!!!
