I want to add two extra tail lights to my '98 Vulcan 1500e......one on each side of the rear fender. Attached is a diagram of the wiring going into the tail light. The other is a pic of the wiring coming out of the light that I want to install. Any idea of what wire goes to what wire. I have already tried and after the first fuse blew, I closed-up the patient and walked away from it. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance....BillG

Based on typical wire coloring, red is likely power, black ground, yellow signal.

So for connecting to the harness...I assume these are correct

Red connects to red
Black connects to black/yellow
Yellow connects to blue

If you're unsure and have a voltmeter you can check. Turn the key to on, touch the positive (red) lead to the red harness wire and the negative (black) lead to the black/yellow harness wire. It should show 12v or so. Then leave the negative lead on the black/yellow and touch the positive lead to the blue wire, then activate the brakes. It should show power when you hit the brakes, but no power otherwise.

On your oem tail light wires should be:

Blue - brake light
Red - tail light
Black/yellow- earth.

Rasta’s advice is on using meter to check
