I have an 07 Custom that I purchased used with a Memphis Fats 19" shield. The shield is a liitle too tall but before I cut it down I was experimenting with tape and tilting the shield. I gain (lose) a little over an inch of height by adjusting the shield angle. What I also gained was a up flow of air adjacent to the widest point on the tank. I'm not sure of the cause but is there any way to avoid this or do I just leave the shield more vertical and cut more off? If anyone understands the reason, I would appreciate knowing that also. Thanks in advance.

Sailor Bill,
I can't answer most of your questions, but I do have something to think about. You can buy a Memphis replacement shield (no hardware) for ~$70 or maybe even less on Ebay. 17" is the next shorter size.

I thought I remember someone on this forum saying adding the Memphis lowers helped with the wind buffeting.
