Who has or has not had problems with their 900?

I have owned four of these bikes now and was wondering what other owners who have actually accumulated some miles have or have not seen for problems with these bikes.I have a tendency to switch bikes often so have never really put a lot of miles on any of the four.I did have a 2009 that dripped some coolant at about 3000 miles which I resolved by tightening some hose clamps under the gas tank. Also had small amounts of oil form (same bike) on the wiring harness that runs to the regulator.Never did resolve that problem.I never had any of the frequently talked of belt noise and never experienced stator failure but I never put more than 4500 miles on any of the four bikes. Please state year, mileage, and whether modifications may have caused the problem when responding.

Bought my '11 900 classic LT with 6,500km last year put 8,000 km in the last year and 3,000 this year. 1 set of tires, a battery, oil changes and just did the 24,000km service. Love it so far and getting ready for a cross Canada trip in 3 weeks.
07 custom, zero issues. 19k miles/30k km's on mine. I'll probably replace the stator ahead of time before it shits the bed, as I'd rather replace it now then have to do it on the side of the road waiting for parts.
2012 custom, 5800 miles. So far so good! Only work I've done is maintenance and accessories
2006 900 classic,set of tires,2 batteries and 18k miles,,,NOT ONE PROBLEM,Ran frkn super,miss that bike
excellent news new rider here and just purchased an 06 900 vulcan dunno if its a classic but shes a beautiful red bike im told is decent enough for a mature beginner

I have had my 900 for 7 years. 20k miles had under 2k when i got her.
Have had NO major issues.
Fork seals dis start leaking last year but they are a wear item and with the bike being an 08 it was not unexpected.
Do your regular maintenance and these bike will last a very very long time. I would put their reliability up against the gold wings they are just awesome bikes

Anyone have any new replies?
Never had an issue except a bad stator around 25k miles and needing the ECU recall for it being a first year bike (2006 only, rarely could stall if pulling clutch while shifting and engine deceleration, not a huge deal and free fix). These things go over 100k with almost no repairs. The 800s are very similar. Keep an eye on oil viscosity shearing out due to being shared with the tranny on all Japanese bikes. I switched from full synthetic to a cheaper oil and change more often for that reason.
2012 classic...1 battery replacement, 1 set of Michelin Commander 2's
All self maintained
13,000 miles..... completely free of any issues....of course being a freak for mechanical work, I literally dismantled the entire motorcycle since I bought it in winter and was bored....I used to strip and build road racing motorcycles so it's habit and I was very impressed how easy it came apart and went back together awesome for a street slug ..
Would recommend this bike to my best friend or relation as long as it fits your use...me? I had to get my feet forward and a relaxed posture to break my speed habits so it reminds me to take it easy👍👍👍👍

Thank you for the reply.
I got my 08 last year with 9500 miles on it. First thing I did was fork seals and tires. Stator went out at 15000 miles. Replaced stator and bolt along with the rectifier. Replaced all 4 turn signals cause the rubber dry rotted. Oil changes every 3000 miles. I passed on 15000 miles valve clearance check. Probably do it at 25000 miles.
85k miles on it so far, still going strong. Routine maintenance, new tires and battery about every 3 years, brake pads as needed. Only significant repairs was replacing a broken clutch cable somewhere around 50k miles, and then had to have the stator replaced at 81k.

Which signals did you use? I have the same problem. There are plenty of cheap Chinese made aftermarkets out there, so I am always curious of what replacements people are using.
2009, just had it 3 weeks and only problem so far was learning about the kickstand switch. Sometimes I have pulled forward a bit with the kickstand down on other bikes. This is the first one I’ve had with a switch that kills the bike if you put it in gear with it down.
Would like to learn more about the pulley up-Grade for lower RPM’s at freeway speeds.

I have 2009 classic lt. Bought it last year with 6400 miles. Got over 14000 on it now. No problems except with fuel pump. Changed and no other issues even on some extended rides.
2021 Custom - just tires & routine maintenance so far.
2006 900 Classic LT - got it new in 2020 with 23K, only have 8K on it so far (I roll up a lot of miles on my Gold Wing trike - the Vulcan isn't my only ride), and the only issue has been a stator and rectifier at 26K.

I also put on new tires at 24K, and replaced the battery last year - but those are normal wear and tear.
Bought my 2013 Classic LT in 2017 with 8500 miles on the clock. Now has over 15k miles. The only issue was doing a full LED conversion, had to replace the front turn signals on the Kawasaki light bar. Since then I've had no other issues.
had mine 4 years so far. the only problem i've had with my 2017 custom is the shifter somehow tightened itself too tight all on it's own, and wouldn't shift. other than that, routine maintenance
