Just picked up my first bike in 20years last week. I got a black 09 900 classic. watched them uncrate it and put it together. man what a thrill
been raining alot here but i put 200 miles on it this week. I forgot how much I enjoy riding

anyway, I want to add an S&S air cleaner, hard krome side burners and a FC fuel control system. does the bike need to be fully broke in before I do it?
say 3500+ miles or is it ok to do so say after the 650 mile initial break in

thanks for the help

I put and Sideburner and fuel control on my classic right off the back and never had a problem. I don't know about the air cleaner, but I imagine its the same story

If you had to wait, then why will dealers install whatever goodies you want BEFORE you even pick up your ride? You can add them whenever you wish....and can afford it.

Most dealers will do whatever you pay them to. Even if they know its not a good idea. But with that said, I see no problem adding parts immediately after purchase. However, the break in time is still the same. I can see where it would be really tempting with a loud new exhaust and hi-flow intake to want to go out and drive it hard before the break in period was up. As long as you can make yourself drive her easy with all that bolt-on power sitting there, you should be fine.
