I have a 1991 vulcan en500 with 13,000 showing on it. I am taking it to the Kaw dealer next week to get the rear tire replaced and proabably should get the front replaced too though the tread looks okay. Should the wheel bearings be replaced or re-lubed at this time in the life of the bike? I can just see money going for this and that.

This is probably getting to you a bit late, but unless the bearings have been neglected or abused (not greased), they should be fine. Ask the mechanic to look them over.

Old Bike Guy, Thank you for the response. The tire is now on and I got to ride a few miles today and hope to run a few this week-end. The Kawa service dept agreed with what you said that they are most likely fine. There was a gasoline leak and I asked they check that out and a petcock has been ordered. I can ride it fine without leaking when running which is good. Thanks again for the response. Jmak
