You nailed it.... That's a lot of preload. I have mine set at #6 for 2up riding, and when riding solo it's okay but can bounce pretty good on sharp bumps.
I'm at 240 lbs and the bike has a 2 inch drop. I noticed that the tool kit is missing one of the wrenches so I guess adjusting it is not an option, at least not until I buy the wrench that's missing from the kit. Thanks for the help.

Well, I'm 225lbs, then add 120 for my wife and the #6 setting works. But, I don't think to drops 2" (will have to measure sometime). You should be able to find a spanner wrench at your local dealer so you can make the adjustment. When you do try #5 and see hoe that works for you.

Adjusting tools

If the back wheel is off the ground, you can use a strap type filter wrench.
