Ok so ive got a 99 vn800b with 44k miles on it and I've put about 5k on it without issue. My question is I have a strange noise coming from the clutch cover area. A bit of a squeak/chirp sound similar to a bad pilot bearing.. I haven't opened it up yet but I noticed it and used a screwdriver as a stethoscope to pinpoint it to the clutch cover area. Any ideas what it could be?

my guess would be the clutch bearing only way to find out is to remove the housing and replace the clutch and what ever else it needs

That's kinda what I was thinking it could be but like you said without taking it apart there's no way to know for sure. I will say I've recently done a sprocket upgrade. 17/38 I've noticed since then it seems like it needs more clutch let out to start moving but I guess that could be the clutch going out?

If the bike is loosing pull from full stop and seems to be slipping when you pull away that is your clutch, you can try adjusting it, but it might need to be serviced.
