I have an 01 Vulcan 500 I got used and it sometimes doesn't fire on the right cylinder. I cleaned the carb and then I could smell unburned gas in the exhaust so I know it is getting gas. Replaced the spark plugs and that did not help so I replaced the coil, and it still sometimes runs on the right cylinder and sometimes it doesn't. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I can easily tell when it is not firing because the RH exhaust doesn't heat up like the LH and I can smell unburned. It might be easier to diagnose if it was consistent, but it hit and miss.

Check your spark plug wire, make sure it's not shorting to ground? This can happen intermittently

I replaced the coil, plug and wire, and it is now running on the right cylinder, but it is running a lot richer than the left side, so now I need to read through the service manual and figure out how to fix the carb issue. Thanks.
