So I was on my ride to work today and I ended up dumping my bike at 25 mph because of idiots on cell phones..I've got some rash, any luckly the only things messed up on my bike are the headlight, dent/scratch on tank and the rear bracket cover. I will have some pics posted tomorrow. Be safe Guys.

Yeah. Here in georgia it is the law that you can't drive and be on one but like I said that woman I'm sure got a nice little ticket for it. And seeing what it can cause hopefully will open her eyes. Just glad it wasn't worse. Scary feeling.

Curious, was she on the headset or pressing the phone to the side of her head? WA State has law that you have to have an approved headset to be on phone. Do not know why peeps do not buy a headset, I wear one!! Ugh! Idiots.

Glad you are ok, I know the bumps and bruises do not help (I have had my share) but at least you are moving and breathing,ya??

So sorry to her this, Brad. I went through a similar situation myself earlier this summer. Guy either blew through a stop sign or just didn't stop long enough... pulls out in front of me into the intersection. I was only doing 25 (if that, maybe 20) and I hit my brakes and laid it down to avoid hitting his car. (This, BTW was NOT on my 900 but my previous 750 bike). Anyway, a few scrapes, some bruised ribs, but all better after a few weeks. I was glad I had all my gear on.

Made me wonder if I did the wrong thing too, in my reaction. In the MSF classes, it is stressed that you always stop in a straight line. Maybe I braked while trying to swerve, therefore tipping the bike down. If I had done just one or the other, braking or swerving, maybe I would not have dropped the bike.

But no matter now... we're glad you're okay and here to tell us about it. Most of my "close ones" have been some nimrod in the next lane swerving towards me while inattentively yapping on the phone. Sheesh! Hope you get your 900 fixed... SOON!

I just saw a report on tv where they did a study and found it makes no difference if the person on the cell phone is physically holding the phone or not, the act of talking on the phone is the distraction.

Calipornia passed a "hands-free" law a couple years ago. It pretty much gets ignored, though they will write you up for it. I saw the same report. It's gotten really bad here. Used to be when someone was driving slow and irratic, they were either of Asian desent or older than dirt. Now it's anyone on a cell phone. The really scary ones are the people who weave in and out of traiffic while speeding and talking on a cell phone.
A couple of months ago, my wife and I were driving to IHOP for the Wed. Senior BOGO special when I pulled up next to a young lady who had a cigarette in one hand and a cell in the other while driving. I don't know why, but she seemed really pissed off when I told her how talented she was to be able to drive, smoke and talk on the phone all at the same time without having an accident:eek:. I guess some folks just can't take a compliment...

Glad you're ok!! Bike parts can be replaced....

IMHO, cellphones and driving don't mix, hands-free or not.

Glad your ok, On the way to work last weekI had a cab driver look at me then pull out in front of me. I l grabbed a handful of the brakes. Came with in 2 feet of hitting him. Needless to say I called the Cab Co and filed a complaint. Working in the auto sector paid off as i knew exactly what kind of car it was. Took me an hour to stop shaking

A close one myself last week. Old Girl came out of Taco Bell, turning right, crossed the first lane to get in my lane. I held tight and run the line, looking for a soft spot in the grass. When she finally got straight, our mirrors almost touched as I went by her. If I would have stopped, she would have give me the bumper, T-Bone style. I stopped when I got in the clear, and turned around to give her my thoughts. She looked it me like I was a drunk or on drugs, probably locked the doors. Aguy in a truck stopped as well, probably ready to start picking up my pieces.

In my short time on 2 wheels, you can never take your eyes off of the road.

A couple of weeks ago on the news they ran a clip of a woman driving down the street while texting on her phone. Went for about 45 seconds. And they did stress that the guy driving the other vehicle alongside her was not the one doing the filming. It was a passenger in his vehicle.

Yeah I agree that it should be outlawed. But nonetheless we are all guilty of it. I keep it to a bare minimum when im driving. But unlike the lady you will never catch me on it in the most busy part of town..But yeah I'm already lined up to meet with someone local about fxing my tank..Going to end up debadging it because i lost one of the badges yesterday. Just ready to have her back to normal haha

We're not all guilty of talking on the cell and driving. I don't even own one of the freaking things. If I need to communicate from the car the middle finger usually does the trick.... Just kidding.... Kind of.:D
