Hi All,

I have a query regarding tyre dimensions / sizes.

I currently have 205 / 55 /16 tyres on my Vectra.

A friend has offered to sell me their wheels and tyres as they've changed to alloys. His tyres are 215 / 55 / 16.

I was thinking of buying them to keep as spares in case of punctures etc.

Questions are:

1) What difference does this make to the handling/running of the car ?
2) Can I use a mix of say 205's on front / 215's on rear (or vice versa) ?
3) What's better 205's or 215's ?

Thanks in advance.

going off experience on motorbikes, it does two things:-
firstly because they are wider they offer slightly more grip (not noticeable with normal driving).
secondly they slow the car down at high speeds, by high i mean 150MPH+, so again not noticeable for normal driving.
the only downside is the price of the tyres is around £15-20 more per tyre.
