Hey,

I was wondering if anyone had any information on a trike conversion kit for the VN 900s. I've looked at a couple places like texas trike werx, Hannigan, and mystery. Does anyone have the conversion on their bike? Does anyone have hard numbers on what it would cost to convert the bike?

Also, could one just by the mechanical stuff and do his own conversion and buy the tires and wheels locally and fabricate his own bodywork?

I've been looking at a lot of trike kits and tend to believe that the 900 probably isn't the best platform for a trike, especially if you want to run freeway speeds. But, it really depends on what you want and expect from a trike.

Lehman Storm has an "economy", solid axle, trike kit based on the Kawi 900. It's the only kit I've seen that is specific to the 900.

Personally, I think I want independent suspension and reverse and a larger motor for running the freeway.

From what I've seen, the min cost of a decent trike kit is about $15k, which is about the cost of the Lehman Storm kit above, more for a kit with lots of goodies.

There is a pseudo trike kit, which is cheaper, and is basically a set of training wheels that you can attach/remove to the bike at will. So, you have 3 wheels on the rear, instead of 2. You simply bolt on the external wheels and still use your rear tire to drive the thing. In short, there are all kinds of options available to match your wants, needs and budget.

Been thinking, and looking at trikes. I think that the 9 is to small for the added weight, especially two-up.
Not really, my "9" is over 1240 lbs when rolling down the highway ..

bike 640 lbs
us combined 300 lbs
trailer 150 lbs
gear (yep) 150 lbs

total 1240 lbs

I tour from 0 above sea level to 14,000 ft above, it can do the job.

here is a previous trike thread.
