I was noticing some older post for Hitches. Any one have a good suggestion as to where to look for a good hitch at a descent price for my 06 900 classic?

Thanks for the info. I do have another question. Do I need to get anything special to hook up a pig tail for the lights. And does any one have suggestions as to hooking up the lights?

mine was hooked up under the seat into the wiring loom running to the rear light section, that way if you have an issue you are not working under the bike,it sits in the tool box caddy and runs down the inside of my hitch permanently, if you need pics, let me know as i am off today and can send you some, i just did a 6000 mille trip over 16 days and had no issues with the hitch, trailer or wiring., the hitch i installed myself, the wiring, i got a professional to do.

My trailer ... piggybacker.com ... now $725, comes with cooler basket, sprare tire, led lights, jack stand and alloy wheels. about 14 cubic feet of space which the wife had in full use :) Fuel miliage, 65mph or under, 44 / gal, over 65 around 37 mpg. Any questions or if you need pics, let me know, cheers Maurice

Yes, you'll need a converter to change your 5 wire system to a 4 wire system. Here's a link to Wings n Things order page that has what you need.

And I'm pulling the Harbor Freight Tag Along trailer. Probably a little smaller then the piggybacker and not as refined PLUS no cooler rack, I'll have to work something up for that. But very serviceable and it pulls nice behind my 900. I could feel it back there on the way in and out of Eureka Springs when I was hitting the corners fairly hard, but nothing drastic. I could see if it was packed full of weight instead of my cloathes and a sleeping bag/pillow where it might try and push the back end out, but that's in hard corners while scraping pegs. I lost a couple mpg pulling it but had 45 mpg in the 65-70 zone and 52 in the 55 mph zones so I was quite happy.

You could upgrade the Harbor freight trailer over the years by putting LED lights on, a spare tire (sold by Harbor) and a cooler rack (not sold there). Whatever you do, buy some wire wrapping and don't just run the wire bundle through the tongue of the trailer. You'll find there are some sharp edges INSIDE the tongue that will abraid your harness and short out your setup. I read about it and pulled some slack out of my trailers tongue and sure enough there was bare spots. I taped the exposed cable then taped the cable to my tongue so it wouldn't go anywhere and that's where it sits though I do have the cable wrap to keep it safe to re-install when I upgrade the lights. The standard lights that are on the trailer do suck quite a bit of juice when you hook it up to your 900. My Kury gauge didn't show any green lights at idle with the trailer plugged in. Switching to the low drawing LED's will take care of that. But as I didn't idle very long with the trailer on and spent most of the time around 3500-4000 rpm, my battery remained well charged.

Thanks Whiting57. The pics do give me an idea of what to do. Will let you know after I get it together. Hopefully this weekend. By the way nice touch on the additional chrome.
