There was a charity ride and bike blessing this weekend sponsored by a local church and a local m/c. The ride had a full LEO escort. The church's youth group is going to New Orleans to help families still suffering from Hurricane Katrina.

There was about 50 bikes or so, not counting the LEO's, and most riders were from patched m/c's. This one guy from a m/c was the stereotypical biker... two full sleeves of tats, big as a brick sh*thouse, zz top beard..the whole nine, reaches out to my daughter's face. She darn near jumped out of her skin. This mountain of a man says...

"Sorry sweetie, I didn't mean to scare you, but you have some butter in your hair from your bagel."

It was hysterical. She probably looks like his grand-daughter, but Ginny is not used to this crowd and was seriously intimidated. We all had a laugh and thanked him and explained to Gin that most riders are regular folks just like us, and to just remember your manners and revert to my judgement.

My daughter, Ginny, is almost 10 and has done little ice cream trips uptown and things like that, but this was her first good, long ride. We received our blessing and rode for about 90 minutes through twisty mountian roads, around the lakes and big skies. She LOVED it!

The day culminated in a BBQ with a DJ and they raffled off some goodies as well. Ginny won a basket of lotions and stuff from bath & body works, so she was thrilled. All the guys cheered for her, and she was all grins. Some of them were calling her "Pinky" because of her pink helmet.

Somehow, I think Gin and I will be doing a LOT more rides together... :D

Sorry, bro. The point & shoot camera was MIA, and I wasn't going to bring my pro-DSLR.
