all excited, I went to the dealership to put a deposit down on an '09 candy plasma blue 900 Vulcan classic!

The manager comes over and says, sorry sir, we made a mistake, it's going to be 400.00 more.

He said the price was mis-quoted and he will speak to the person who gave me that price.

I said, the guy who gave me that price was named "Dave" and he said he was the manager.

The man just looked down and then started walking fast away from me and when I asked the girl at the front desk who the man I pointed to was she said, oh that's Dave, the sales manager.

I waved at him as I left the store...

What he didn't realize about me is this...

I have worked with the number one "Classic Vulcan" in the world so it's back to the Starship for me!

If they know that they quoted you a price, regardless if they made a mistake in stating that quote, they should honor it. Otherwise, they do not deserve the business.

well, now for the good news!

I walked out of the dealership and they will never get my business but I just got home and got a phone call from another dealer and this is the deal.

I pay 7200.00 O.T.D. and it is also delivered at no extra charge.

From the many posts I have read here it seems that there are quite a few people paying 7,000.00 out the door but when they tell me what state they live in, some are paying as low as 5% sales tax that would mean I got a great deal because my state sales tax is 9.75%

I am paying almost double is sales tax so that being the case, the Vulcan Classic '09 900 is like me getting the bike for even less than 7 grand out the door...

So it's all good and I look forward to riding with the members on this forum.

Yeah, my buddy had found a little 250 enduro this spring that a dealer had listed on their website and they had screwed it up by a few thousand, and they honoured it. Even though they didn't want to. The guy said later that it turned out their web guy had listed like 3 or 4 bikes way too low. He said if people woulda caught them they woulda lost about 11k in sales.

Good on ya for walking out the door on a bum deal. You'll really like the 900.

When you get it "broke in" ride the coast all the way from CA up to the Northwest. Meet you on the Olympic Peninsula :D

If you're in SoCal, try OTD cyclesports. They have the same price OTD, $7199.

09 Vulcan Classic

I've heard good things about them, though I didn't buy through them in the end (bought a used 06 from a private party). But during my search, they typically came out the lowest. As a result, a great price for me would have been one that beat the OTD Cyclesports price :).

You can do better

I bought my Custom 900 a month ago and paid 5800..Actually more like 6200 after all the dealer BS.. You can do better. It tells me they have more room to move than they are letting you believe

That is a screaming deal but good luck finding that low of a price here in CA.

Oh Yeah

I didn't know you guys were in CA. I'm in MO, and was qouted about 7300 out the door here, found a dealer in Columbus KS (Hatfield Kawasaki) that was advertising 6200 out the door on Craigslist! I could not pass that up! So 200 miles later it was all mine! I have no idea what things are like in CA, but I assume prices on everything is a lot higher.

Did they really call that dark blue "Candy Plasma"? It is way too dark to have that name.
You must be thinking of a different blue because the Candy Plasma Blue is a bright blue not dark

And the reason...........

Let me ask the obvious question, from my point of view, why on earth didn't you get a quote on the bike you were purchasing IN WRITING, that way they could not weezel out of it. Just a thought
