Apparently Indian is getting ready to introduce another new model for 2016, called the Dark Horse, it will have the same 111 thunder motor, and will be unveiled on feb. 13th, at the motorcylce show in Chicago....ride on....

Hopefully, it comes in fairly light and sporty (relative to other Indians, that is). I rode a chieftain and loved the engine, so the same one in something lighter would be just incredible fun!

Indian has the Scout which is the smaller fun and light, getting great reviews...
Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be incredibly overpriced and only someone with deep pockets will be able to afford it.:(

Actually, since Polaris took over, the prices on their bikes are right in line with the corresponding Harley model. The new Scout is $10,999 and it's way more fun than any other bike that I've ridden in that category.

The Dark Horse is a blacked out version of the Indian Chief (like Harley did with the Night Train). I think it looks pretty darn sexy. It's supposed to start at $17,000. (Again pricing is in line with similar Harley models)
The Indian is about the only bike that really tempts me away from the Kawasaki Vulcan line... Then I remember I can get 2 or 3 Vulcans for the price of one Indian. :)

Um - that's not a recommendation - & I do love the looks of the Indians.
So now that it's out, not a new design, but a blacked out Chief with a vinyl seat and no light bar. Lost 27 pounds in the redo... Does look pretty good! And it's the cheapest of the 111's... if 16,999 is cheap!

I talked to Indian about this bike last week. They're behind schedule. At this point they have no media demos available, they only have the fleet that was in Chicago this weekend and is headed to Daytona.

Originally, they were saying they would be released this week.
I'm probably in the minority here, but that is one fugkly bike. :D

What's to demo?? Take a basic Chief out at night !?

I fell in love with the Indians, especially after I demoed the Chieftain in November 2013. Since then I had it in the back of my mind to get an Indian when I was finished with the Vaq.
I went to the International M/C show in January and ended up spending ALOT of time in the Indian display, and came away with that "new bike bug". I joined an Indian forum but after spending a few weeks there I picked up on the fact there are ALOT of unhappy Indian owners and peeps who have had deposits on skoots, specifically the Scout, and have been waiting since last summer.
Lotsa complaints about Polaris's "disconnection" with their customers, and the dealerships also being "out of the know" so to speak. All this convinced me to wait a few years and hopefully Polaris will get all the bugs worked out in manufacture/production and public relations.

The Vaq is 72,000 mls young and it ain't finished with me yet!!

standard vs darkhorse is the same bike. ride one and you'v ridden the other. no need for special demo, except to see the fit n finish.

as for pricing. Indians b4 polaris, starting price was $35k.. a totally exclusive klub for well healed Snobbs.. If you think Hardley morons are snobbs, you aint seen nuthin.. them ******, particular the old tribe bunch have their money bikes stuk so far up their azz.. they dont even want to be badge associated with the new mill, low(er) price newbies..

so dont knock the new ****** for being out of your price range. Polaris is working its butt off to bring us a better product at a better price. poncho

RnR, dont be dismayed with the whiney crowd. they would piss n moan about any bike, anything. it is what gives them purpose to exist. w/o the useless noise they generate, they have no reason to live. I am sure, the VV series bikes rec'd much the same kinda background noise.. you made a commitment and then worked thru whatever minor issues you may have encountered, most likely not all.

I have first run of the new 111's s/n 837 so am a charter member of the (new)tribe. One year, 4 excursions 12k miles. I have had ZER0 issues with my bike. yeah I could piss in moan that its not this or that or wtf else. it is wat it is and is very much a topshelf machine. poncho

the problem with the Indian forum... its full of indians..

I'm right here with you. I want to puke every time I see one of them. The Victory, too. LOL!

I've been around a LONG time and know a thing or two. I NEVER noticed nor had any idea that these people were "whiners where their pissin and moanin is what gave them a purpose to exist, generating useless noise that without they have no reason to live". WOW...pretty harsh words that were really not necessary.

I read and digested the problems and could plainly see that Polaris has a multitude of issues that need to get ironed out before I make a commitment to their product. I know quite a few 111 owners that are extremely happy and that's a good thing. But I also see the other side as presented and the fact the Vaq ain't done with me yet has me happily lookin forward to more miles on it. An Indian is in my future for sure.

NONE of the posts and threads on the Indian forum I read had even the slightest derogatory and/or condescending attitude as yours did, so it's a no brainer whose "whine" I'm gonna believe.

well then I owe you an apology.. you wrote that you were in love on the new ***** ready to commit.. then the indian 4m turned you away.. which leads me to think you really weren't committed to the indian.

october 013, after acquiring my chieftain I read numerous post on two indian forums that were just full of nit picking nonsense from fellas that either didnt have one yet or it somehow didnt meet their expectations.. then of course the old tribe would cast degradation on anything that wasn't of their particular decade vintage. I read more negative comments the first few months of production, such I quit looking to those sites for any information. I just ride my bike and it performs spectacularly. So my judgement has been the indian community is chocked full of nit picking whiners. It is from this that I perceived moved you away from your decision to pull the trigger and commit to a new machine.

so for what its worth, I apologize that I offended you. poncho
