My 2007 VN900 Classic has almost 20,000 on it. For oil I have been using regular Spectro 10W40. I am contemplating changing over to a synthetic oil. I would appreciate any thoughts about my doing this.

Thank you for your reply. While waiting around, I found an older post regarding synthetic oil. It also came to the same conclusion. Up here in CT I have been riding all winter, as long as the roads were decent. I use a heated jacket liner & heated gloves. So since last fall I am now due to change my oil & filter. Thanks again for the info. Have a safe riding season.

Yeah, I'd do it; I've never heard of anything bad about these engines with synthetic and in general synthetic is better. It doesn't break down like regular oil so you don't have to worry about changing it as often - that is, unless you put on enough miles to need it regardless lol

Synthetic oil not only has a better base oil but almost always has a better additive package. With most motorcycles only needing one oil change a year it won't break the bank either.
