If you live in the Mpls area, Bill Bassett from Motoprimo puts on this ride every year for the past 16 years. It starts in South Saint Paul and goes down to Alma Wi, just past Nelson. Then goes to Lunch in Wabasha.
Here is what Bill postd on Facebook

Please join me & others for the 16th Annual Swan Ride, a motorcycle ride to see Arctic Tundra Swans in Alma, WI, on Sunday, November 1st, 2009. That's right, November! (See www.almaswanwatch.org for more swan info.)

Ride registration begins @ 8 AM & we'll depart @ 9 AM. The ride begins from Fury Motorcycle, 740 North Concord Avenue, South St. Paul, MN 55075, 651-251-8230, www.furymotorcycle.com. The Fury Motorcycle crew is even providing us with a free breakfast to get us started!

The ride is expected to last all day, including 3 stops along the way to warm-up. Lunch will be @ Slippery's in Wabasha, MN, www.slipperysumr.com (Lunch costs $10.00 each, including a non-alcoholic drink).

Any & all motorcyclists are welcome to join in the fun.

This is definitely a ride for the hardy, well-equipped motorcyclist & his or her co-rider. While it's often cold at the beginning of the ride, it always seems to warm-up enough during the day to make the ride a pleasurable experience. So, put on whatever you wear to keep you warm when you ride your motorcycle & join me & others Sunday, November 1st, 2009, for what promises to be a wonderful final group ride of the season.

Hope to see you all there!

Have Fun.

Thanks for posting that, Eli. If I wasn't already busy Sunday morning, I'd be there. I've still been riding in to work each day this week so far, temp about 35 in the morning but warming up to near 50 each day.... trying to extend the riding season as long as I can.

Twin Cities Motorcycle Club also has a ride on the following Saturday Nov. 7 that I might be able to attend (although I should be raking leaves), starting in Lino Lakes called the "I Laugh At The Cold" ride.

Here's the link for details.

I was thinkin bout that ride too. But I live in Prior Lake. So to make it to Lino Lakes I would have to ride 50 some miles just to get there. So depending on what time that ride starts I would be pretty cold already. But I might if it is decent out.

Well I am all ready for the Swan Ride tomorrow. It'll 34 in the morning, but 55 by mid-day. Just in time to get home to watch the Vikes pack game. Got my new chaps, new engine guard chaps and my heated liners into my boots. If anybody can make it. Im on the all black 900 "LT"

Have fun, Eli. Wish I could join you, as it does promise to be a fine day here after all. If I didn't have to be at work this morning, I would definitely go along. Post some pics.

I'm still contemplating that "laugh at the cold" ride next weekend if it isn't actually snowing by then. The Lino Lakes starting point is only about 15 miles from me up here. Now I feel like I'm being challenged to go out on it since I finally got a response from the TCMC saying my membership application was "declined". WTF!!! The email said "Before joining, we ask that you attend some of our rides." So, maybe if I show up they'll let me in. Funny - I thought you'd maybe have to join first, but... whatever.

Yeah it was a great day to ride. Got close to 60 today and barely below 40. Not as many people showed up this year. But then I guess there was a football game on today or something...

Yeah they say that on their site too. I am thinking about doing that ride since it is going to be like 63 tomorrow. Hopefully this headcold subsides over night. But then maybe the crisp fall air will clear me up.

Did you notice how they don't have the time posted. I emailed the dude and he said 12:00, which is great, cuz then I don't have to wake up so early. Maybe I can get my wife to come then too.

12:00?!? Checking their site, you're right it doesn't have a time posted. But somehow I had it in my head that the departure time was set for 11:00, so I was planning to be there at 10:30. I wonder where did I get that notion from? I've written him too now, just to be sure.

Well, if it is later like that, I may have to pull out of the ride after the lunch break. I have a playing (and paying) gig tonight that I'll have to start getting ready for by about 2:30. But it would be fun to meet up with you in person and see your classic-turned-LT that you got up near here in Mora!

BTW... I forgot to mention, nice pics from the Swan Ride. There's some nice looking bikes there.
