I was wondering if someone might have full instructions to changing the oil on 2009 1700 vulcan classic lt. I drained at both plugs and installed a new filter and put in five quarts of 20/50 oil. Dip stick oil level is at half way in between high and low marks with bike level, hot or cold. Thanks for any help or info. Owners manual is not that clear with full instrutions. Hi. Thanks for your reply. It seems to be a nice bike. It handles real nice in turns and feels well balanced. Long break in. lol. I have never had it above 70 mph in sixth gear. Breaking in. Made sure to change the oil way before the first 600 miles on the engine. Looking forward to getting a factory service manual with all the info and everything. Feels to me like it needs to be taken out for a good four hour ride and then let sit about twenty minutes to cool. And then another four hours. Everything is so tight and new. Also seems real stable in high winds. I wish the floor boards were a little more towards the center of the bike. Nice heel toe shift lever. Everything felt better after first oil change. About ran it out of gas way out in the middle of nowhere, but the orange light warned me. I think it is a good motorcycle. Reminds me of a old hog in some ways, but new and modern with all the things I wished my old hog would have had years ago. Really nice and well built front forks and handle bars right off the show room floor. Tires are still breaking in.

Breakin Oil Change?

At what mileage is the best to change the oil? I have 50 miles on my new 1700. Can you use synthetic on the first change? Does anyone know if the clutch is a wet or dry clutch? I was told on my 900 that is had a wet clutch and it was not good to use synthetic. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
