Stator, new thread same problem.

My problem like many others is the not knowing when and where the Stator may fail. I have a much anticipated 2,000 mi ride in may. Seven days / nights of riding etc. I have an 07 with 20,000 miles on the od. I really enjoy this bike. It is just right wgt. etc. for me. I am contemplating changing the Stator for the peace of mind before my trip, sounds foolish I guess. So does being 2,000 mi. away from home and no help in sight. I don't need help making up my mind. I am wondering what replacement Stators have given some of you the best service?

I have 11,000 on my 2007 and I'm thinking about changing it too. For the length of ride you're talking about, I would change it. I would change it now, just to make sure I did it right. This will give you time to test close to home and piece of mind while on your trip.

The last thing you want to be thinking about for 2,000 miles is "wonder if my stator will fail?" Even if it doesn't it will weigh on your mind. My vote would be to change it. Ricks seems to be the consensus aftermarket.

Mine went out at about 11000 miles, went with Rick's. So far now have 32000 miles so far so good. If you do decide to change out pay extra care sealing the grommet in the case, don't ask how I know. All told about 3.5 hours of work /24 hrs + to wait for the sealer to cure.
For peace of mind I added a battery gauge from Kuryagen, placed on the upper triple tree, forward of the handle bar mounts
07 Custom. Stator went at 21,000 miles. I installed a Ricks (also reg/rec). I've got 14,000 on the new unit. I also installed a Kuryakan peace'o'mind guage. Going on 8 yrs with this bike and lovin' every minute!

Stator replacement

I went with Rick's Stator. While I was at it I had the 20,000 mi service done along with new tires and the rear od pulley. I now have both pulley's and the 170-80 rear tire. That is all I can do for this ride. I am anxious to get a warm day and see how the bike feels on the slab.
