Replaced my stator and gasket. Replaced stator gasket 3 times and still continues to leak oil. Any suggestions? Cover bolt tightening (cross pattern or around one by one?) I don’t understand why it keeps leaking. I’ve replaced several gaskets on cars and trucks and even on the clutch cover for this bike and no problems. Yet the stator continues to leak. Help please

Hi Bill,
  • The gasket surface needs to be clean of any RTV.
  • The stator and pulse coil wires go through a grommet. The grommet-to-cover surfaces should be cleaned of old RTV sealer and have new sealer applied between cover and grommet and between grommet and case. IF the grommet is a two piece then that area needs cleaned and resealed.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did all of those things. It seems my issue is that the grommets are hardened and aren’t providing a good seal. Even with the RTV

Its not your main seal, I had the same problem it was leaking, it would show at the bike stand… when you open your plate covers like to change your stator on the right side a bit up you have your shaft with another small seal, that’s the problem. Try it✌🏽
