So I just did a tune up on my bike. I changed the air filter on the bike, and it seemed to run fine after that. However, after swapping the old DR8EA's with DR9EA's, it's now knocking? It's making a loud noise like popping. It's almost as if something is bouncing around in there (I hope not!) Could a jump up the heat range really do this?

NGK uses a reverse numbering system regarding heat range. The 9 is ‘colder’ than the 8. I run DR8EA in Hidalgo due to the DR9EA fouling issues.

Regarding the noise I can’t say. When does the noise happen: Idle? Acceleration? Deceleration? Constant speed?

Was there anything else done at the same time?

Put the 8's back in. If the knocking goes away, well... But I suspect something else is going on. Maybe the crush washer(s) fell into the engine. Without hearing it a proper diagnosis is going to be difficult. I definitely wouldn't ride it though until that gets sorted out.
