This is on a 1600 but assume 1500 would be the same. New to these models so please excuse beginner questions.
I am looking at a classic with footboards & heal & toe shifter. Been dropped on LHS & shift levers bent along with the change shaft lever part 13161B. This is the bit the 2 shifters go onto with the splined end As I can't inspect bike, going by photos, is this part located into engine case or just into frame. I think must go into frame as can't see any oil seal/o'ring on end of it just a circlip. If its a hole in frame looks a bit bent also.

You are correct that the 15 &1600 shift mechanism are the same.
The change shaft does not go into the engine. The right end is supported by a recessed hole in the inner generator cover.
The shaft is then supported in the center by passing thru a hole in the outer generator cover, which does have an oil seal
where it enters and exits. (2 seals)
If this hardened shaft is bent, I would inspect the hole in the outer generator cover (very closely), looking for cracks.
Also inspect the end shaft hole in the inner generator cover for damage.

If you are considering purchasing this bike, replacement of the above mentioned parts does not require engine removal,
and the parts are readily available on e-bay for very reasonable cost.
