So I have a 2016 Vulcan 900 Classic with a little less than 8000 miles. Never rode crazy or maxed out the revs when shifting. So, On my way home from work I leave the parking lot and I'm waiting at a stoplight. Light turns green and I proceed to go. Shift from 1st to 2nd and my linkage breaks. Not the rod but the rivet that holds the rod to the lever to the transmission. So now my bike is stuck in 1st gear. Pull over to the side of the road and try to change it from 1st to 2nd with my hand... Won't go. I ride the rest of my way home in 1st gear at about 5 to 10 mph in the bike lane... Anyone have this issue with the rivet just shearing off like that??? I did purchase the extended warranty and they said it was covered just wondering if this is just a fluke thing...

That was a nasty surprise! Have never experienced that problem. Good that you made it home in 1st. With my old commute that would have meant riding 30 miles in 1st! Apparently that rivet escaped the hardening part of the manufacturing process . . .
