Thinking about getting my seat redone by an outfit called Americana Soft Seats.Have an 09 Classic LT. Has anyone out there done business with these people? They offer a 1 week turn around with gel pads and foam for rider and passenger for less than $200 shipping back included.

I haven't used this company, but I learned enough through replacing my own to respond to your question. I believe what you will receive will no doubt be an improvement, but how much would remain to be seen. I replaced my stock with a Saddlemen Gel. It was better than stock is the best I can say so I sold it (the seat worked for many people, but not me). I decided my comfort on a ride was worth the money and effort so I went with a Russell Day Long. Since I live only about 3 hours away, I did a ride-in. I toured their shop and saw how they did it. The seat was done to a mold that fit my measurements and the density of the memory foam to my weight. The seat included a metal spring for a true suspension effect. Four months and 4000 miles later, I have yet to have any discomfort what so ever, no matter how much I ride in a day.
Many people swear by the Mustang, but there isn't a seat out there (including the Russell) that has failed to make a happy rider out of all it's customers. With what I read on the site you're looking at, I anticipate there will be an improvement, but it will more than likely come up short in the long run. If you deciede to do it, I hope it works out for you. Good luck!!!

You might look at Spencers also! Great guy to work with, very knowledgable, fast turn around and reasonably priced. Be sure and add the Supracor "LD" upgrade if you have him perform your work. I've been very satisfied with him.

My seat is being mailed today to Spencer's. When it returns and the weather gets better, I will report the results. I have a 2007 Custom. I wanted to point out one thing that may save some money. I was unable to get the seat in a small enough box to avoid the "dimensional weight" penalty for using UPS. Even though the seat and packaging are approximately 10 pounds, you are charged for 43 pounds because of the size of the box. Sending your seat in this case is about half the price by using Parcel Post.

When I shipped the Saddlemen that I sold on eBay, UPS wanted about $42 to ship, but I was able to send it out USPS for about $26.
