I had a scootworks over drive pulley on bike and loved it except the constant squealing. I removed and replaced with stock pulley so I could have scootworks resurface it.

Here is my delima....I leave for a week long bike trip up and down the east coast next Sunday. I can order another pulley from Mean cycles and have it here in time for trip or I can just replace rear tire.

I read somewhere (on this forum but cant find now) that replacing the rear tire with either a 170 or a 200 will yield same results as the pulley. Any one have opinion or more info about this?

I need to do something before I leave.

Found this info from Mr Clean on another post. Not sure how it compares to the pulley and wish the 200 tire wasn't so dang expensive.

I would add the pulley and run a 200. Neither really do much difference running by themselves. As many love to desagree I for six months had the front pulley and a avon 200 with zero issues even with wife and fully loaded. Been unhappy with the bike still reving high at 70mph I have now added the rear pulley as well. Now I can cruise at true 80mph and can see the vehicleds clearly on my rearview mirrors.

high rpm at 70mph

1. Did you get rid of the loud high rpm sound at 70 and above after the 2 pulleys were in?

2. Does it reduce torque and speed at 1st and 2d gear?

Thx.
