Ok guys. Here's the latest on my move to the 04 Vulcan. I got it running. I've riden it about 30 miles and have been impressed. I noticed that the inside of the tank is Very rusted. Today it began lurching under acceleration, but if I back off the throttle, it runs ok. If I stay on the throttle it feels like it's running out of gas. Because of the rust I figure that the filter is clogged. Well, looking at the manual I discovered that "the pump screen and filter are built into the fuel pump and cannot be cleaned or checked". You have to replace them with the fuel pump at 3-4 hundred dollars. Have any of you heard of, or had this problem? The bike came from South Carolina, but I'm still amazed that a bike this clean, would have this much rust in the tank. Any advice?
