I was just curious as to what was the average age of the riders posting on these forums, and what bikes they may have owned in the past.
I'm 20 years old, and live in Canada. Currently the only one of my friends with a cruiser, but I do have a few saving up their shekels to get a v-twin.
I have only had two bikes, my first was a 1977 Kawasaki KZ650
When I had bought it, it was in pretty rough shape, and it was the first time I had attempted to restore a vehicle.
I bought new tires, tubes, dyna performance coils, converted to electronic ignition from points, i painted it myself (and I think I did a pretty good job for a first timer haha), had the seat re-upholstered, and many many other things.
However, at the end, I still wanted a cruiser, so I sold it to pay for the insurance on my VN900. Insurance is a bit much up here in Manitoba, my VN900 runs ab out 1700 a year.
And of course, here is the new beast. Nothing too fancy yet, just ISO grips and some saddle bags. Winter time I'll be putting on the 240 fat tire kit

54 in August. Started on a Cushman Scooter around 1970, my father was the chief eng at a hospital and we lived on the property - no license required. Moved on (backward) to a 1966 250 SS Suzy - oil injection was not yet ready for prime time (sold for $350 and later found it was a collectible $3k!!). Next was a Honda XL250 around 1972 then a new 1974 Honda 740-4. Had several 750's. When the Honda CBX was announced in 1977 I ordered one, got the first red one in Maryland. CBX got stolen in the early 80's and bounced through several bikes both on road and dual purpose. Bikes mostly took the back burner during the 90's and early 2000's while I detoured to drag racing door slammers and dragsters - too hard to make bikes run 7's in the 1/4 mile and stay alive. Bikes since 2000 (up to 3 at one time) have been Honda CL350, more Honda 750's, KZ900, KZ500, ZL600, 81 GoldWing, 95 Sportster, and now the 900 Custom.
51 years young, 38 years on bikes. 1966 Honda C90, 72 Kawi 100, 360 Yami Enduro, 66 Harley (still get an eye twitch from that one), 75 KZ750, 25 year gap in riding (MARRIED WITH CHILDREN), moved from Manitoba to Alberta, kicked the kids out of the house and bought a new 2004 Vulcan 2000 and then a new 2008 Vulcan 900C for the wife. She won't ride, so I converted the 900 to a BTB bike (pictures in my photo gallery). I also found a 1500 classic that someone decked out to look like an Indian. I gave that one to my son to get him started. My daughter will have to learn on the 900 until I find her something cool.

Age 44. Just got my VN900 Custom after a fifteen-year hiatus from riding, but had ridden for much of my life before. I hope I remembered all these correctly, and my memories aren’t playing tricks on me.

Really thinking about removing the heel shifter portion of the shifter. I like to hang my heels off the rear portion of the floorboards and the back part of the shifter is in the way in on that side. I'm used to shifting with just the toe part of the shifter mechanism anyway. Anyone made this...
I just developed a rotating "clink/clunk" noise from what sounds like the lower left (transmission) area when rolling either forward or reverse. The bike is either in neutral or in gear with clutch pulled in (disengaged) and whether the bike is running or off.
First noticed it fresh out on...
