Ok, so I'm sure there has been other threads about this, but I'm new to the forum, just bought a vulcan 1500 classic, and would like to know if anyone else has relocated their rectifier and how did you do it?

lib'r, I moved the rectifier on my 02 meanstreak when I took off the stock exhaust sys and replaced it w/ vancehines propipe. that cleared all the area from under the swing arm previously occupied by cat conv. So it was very easy to rid that bracket and just turn the rectifer in and up. I used nylon wire tires and secured it to the back of the frame out of harms way. worked fine all of 2yrs and 25k miles had that skoot. hope this helps some. out, ponch

yep.. I relocated mine to put V&H bagger pipes on my previous ride.. a 1500.
The cable actually reaches to the front location near the other rectifier under the radiator...... and there are mounting holes for it even. Couldnt be simpler.

here is some required reading for you.... http://www.gadgetjq.com/rectifier_relocate.htm

I think a big open gap on the left side of the bike looked dorky without the rectifier bracket and covers in place however.... I am sure that is why they located the second unit near the goat's belly anyway...for esthetics.

Why would you do this ? ... are you putting duals on it or what ?

There's a chrome cover for the rectifier. Don't recall what I paid for mine, but it looks better than the black.

Welcome to the forum.

My bike has v&h pipes on it already but rectifier was never relocated after pipes were put on and I really dont like the look with it in its original spot.

Well move it to the front if you dont like it you can always put it back where it was. It is not that hard to do :)

But I think Tallannie is right it looks kinda funny with out anything there ;)

I have V&H on mine too, but what would that have to do with the rectifier, which is on the other side of the bike? At least it is on mine.

V&H makes lots of pipes... :) I am talking about their bagger duals which put one pipe on each side of the rear wheel for the classic bagger look.... and the pipe routing for the left side exhaust has to pass thru where the goats belly is / was..and I think putting them on requires moving the rectifier out of the way... maybe it can be done without moving the rectifier, but I doubt it. I just assumed and moved it....LOL
