Belt guard doesn't limit tire size. I think anything over a 240 motorcycle tire requires surgery. I don't pay much attention since the 200 is about as big as I'm going for playing in the twisties. Don't know about how big you can go if you go to the darkside.
I believe my 2009 stock is a Dunlop 180/70 which is about the same size as Dunlops 170/80. Strange that Dunlop does not carry the 180 in their catalog. I'll probably just go to a Metzler 880 180/70 when I replace. I briefly considered the Metzler 200 width or darkside Altimax HP but probably will not change whats working unless I get tired of yearly tire replacements.
That is a 230 on the stock wheel, fits with very little mods, i think the only thing that rubs is the inner mud flap. I took mine completley out but some just trim them.
I think the 230 is the biggest 15" tire thats is made or at least that i have found. I wouldent go any bigger on a stock wheel even if there was one.
I have seen a 250 under a 900 but the had to do some grinding on the swing arm to make it fit.
I purchased a new Baron's rear pulley off of eBay, and now I'm wondering if it could be considered damaged or even counterfeit. I purchased the "unfinished" pulley (not painted), but thought that just meant polished aluminum. After putting a bit of elbow grease, I have it polished up nicely...
Just wondering about what you would change if you had a only 3k on a 2012, what maintence you would do right away?
Oil was changed last at 1k miles, over 4 years ago, so that is the 1st thing I am doing with kawasaki syn or castro/mobil syn oil. My concern is that,
its over 8 yrs old...
I own a Vulcan 900 / 2009 (32,000 km). Until December the bike was in South Africa and the previous owner was using Castrol Actevo semi synthetic 10W40. I'm in Tanzania, I can't find this type of oil here. My question is, I want to change the type of oil and I don't know if is better to...
After some good discussion in another thread, doing the ZX14 shock mod sounded interesting. We have a 1200 mile trip planned this summer and a way to absorb some of the bumps in the road sounds pretty appealing. I bought this shock from a parts recycler on eBay. I plan on doing a total rebuild...
I know this a simple question.
I want to do a synthetic oil change, 2012 v900 has 3k now, last oil was done 4 years at 1k miles.
Autozone said they have mobil one MA (approved) 12$ a qt.
Wondering if you know where I can get ONE system oil synethetic cheaper?
Or if I should be...
