I haven't heard or felt anything actually rubbing, but I noticed this the other day when I was looking at the rear wheel. You can see the little ridge of shavings. Does anyone know what the cause would be?

Is that an 800? Mine did the same thing 2-3 years ago. Only thing I or any others on here at the time came up with is the possibilty of a small rock getting caught in the grove at some point. Mines an 05 classic I've had since new and still ride. Am curious about the copper color of the hub though.

Yeah, it's a 1998 800 classic. Not sure about the copper color, that's the way I got it. That would make sense if a little rock got caught in there.

I wonder if you are missing a spacer on the inside or if a bearing is worn. The rear brake shoe carrier assembly is not sitting perpendicular to the hub.
