While searching for a luggage rack for the 1700 Voyager, I looked at the Yamaha Venture, Mutazu, H-D, Goldwing and AddOn versions.

They all looked good, and I would have been satisfied with any one of them, but the choice came to the Yamaha Venture.

Now comes the search for a good travel bag to put on the rack.

I would like one that opens along the top, rather than at the ends, and comes with a rain cover. Anyone have recommendations and/or photos?

Thanks.....

Here is the one We use for a 2-3 day trip. Holds a lot and opens from the top. You can also open the trunk with this one strapped on as long as You don't just let the trunk flop open. I have a harley tour pack rack on the trunk, and this bag is made for it. Kuryakyn tour bag that does come with a rain cover and straps to fasten it on.

Thanks Shep,

That is the style I am looking for. Is yours a Kuryakyn 4142?

I don't have the Harley luggage rack, but maybe the bag is a universal fit?

Thanks again,

Hmmm. Guess i made a little error. We have to many bags for me to depend on memory.
This is actually a t-bag dekker. Here is a Ebay link. I would say your rack is almost the same as mine. Cheaper too. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/Mzc3WDUwMA==/z/TrIAAOxyKsZRxGbg/$(KGrHqFHJF!FG3+JipWNBR)GbfqhPQ~~60_12.GIF
i use a Yamaha royal star venture bag from Bestem (pictures and features are shown on ebay) this bag is made to fit the Yamaha rack. it also comes with a rain cover..it doesn't look as big as the t bag
Thanks alta, I was curious about that bag, since it was designed to fit the Yamaha rack.
I chose the showchrome because of the matching bag and it works well with the tall backrest.

thanks again everyone for the input, I appreciate it.

After measuring the Yamaha rack, it appears that it is about 8-9 inches wide at the bottom. Since most of the bags I looked at seemed wider than that, I am looking into getting a roll bag for it.

I don't plan to stuff a lot of weight into it, so it doesn't have to be too big. There are some roll bags out there that measure 9" diameter by 20 inches long, they might do the job.

Thanks again.
